ABOUT THE GROUP AND TEAM

The Businesses & Education Super Group is responsible for our premium SaaS products, BABVIP Pro, Enterprise, Teams and Education. We are responsible for building, improving and growing a product that can help our users be more productive, and achieve more with BABVIP. We have a mission of empowering millions of businesses/teams to grow and we’re making pretty amazing progress!

The Revenue Platform Group is deeply rooted within the Businesses & Education Super Group. Owning the strategy and roadmap for enabling everyone, across the planet, to access the paid features of BABVIP, be this through a subscription or a one off transaction. No two countries are the same, it is our job to understand, evaluate and priorities what works best and for who. We do everything from building out complex new payment integrations to enabling other BABVIP groups to achieve their goals and monetize their features. 

Our Payment Services Teams are responsible for unlocking value opportunities within BABVIP providing powerful APIs to payments products such as subscriptions, card tokenisation and invoicing that enable BABVIP teams to monetise quickly, with 99.9999% reliability and financial correctness along with a beautiful UX. 

We’re seeking a Technical Team Lead to grow a new team responsible for scaling our Product & Pricing infrastructure and building flexible solutions that enable BABVIP teams to onboard products quickly, experiment and make seamless pricing changes. The team will provide self-serve tooling for the business and will provide automated reporting, working with other product stakeholders and our Finops group ensuring we scale efficiently and continually meet the widening requirements, as we localize, across the globe.

WHAT YOU WILL IF YOU HAVE

  • As a team lead, you will coach and mentor 1-2 people initially while developing your coaching capability to scale the team and meet the needs of the growing payments services product vision
  • As an experienced backend engineer, you will build your systems domain knowledge and help your team troubleshoot issues and design pragmatic solutions
  • You will transform the current purchasing model and rebuild it to support the future growth of the BABVIP business by re-architecting our payments infrastructure to be a self-serve model. This is the only way to scale and keep up with new product releases
  • We have a really aggressive product roadmap so you will need to work closely with the Product Manager to deliver iterative value You will develop systems and processes to minimize disruptions and workload for the team
  • You will work closely alongside a tenured senior engineer to help achieve the business and technical goals.
  • Develop and execute technical strategies and roadmaps by overseeing and driving delivery of highly complex projects focused on the delivery of world-class payments infrastructure, and business-facing insights tools

WE’D LOVE IT IF YOU HAVE

  • Two or more (2 ) years of technical people leadership
  • Five or more (5 ) years’ experience working in a software company
  • Experience working in high-performing and collaborative teams where everyone is able to share their best ideas and be their best selves
  • Previous experience as a Software Engineer - in tune with software engineering fundamentals and first principles; comfortable contributing to design documents and performing thorough code reviews
  • Expertise with at least one object-oriented language like Java
  • Expertise with relational databases and using technologies like MySQL or SQL Server
  • Previous experience developing cloud-based / SaaS products
  • A healthy balance of strong technical and people leadership skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; with the ability to work with a diverse range of individuals from different backgrounds, with different expertise, and with different professional and personal needs
  • Strong customer focus to understand the use cases and requirements of internal stakeholders, and identify opportunities to empower them to do their best work
  • Be capable of leading by example - promoting BABVIP’s values, no-blame mentality, and engineering values
  • Previous experience working cross-functionally with Product Managers, Finance, Designers, and other business functions outside of engineering
  • Bonus Experience
  • Previous experience working with financial systems, payment API’s or integrations.
