ABOUT THE ROLE

Based in London, BABVIP is looking for an experienced employment lawyer to be part of our highly motivated, tightly knit, and collaborative global legal team. Reporting to the Global Employment Counsel (based in Australia), this role will be the first employment law specialist to provide regional support to both our employee and contingent workforce across EMEA.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Work closely with the Global Employment Counsel Team to ensure a consistent and collaborative approach to delivering employment law services to the region
  • Advise on day-to-day employment related matters throughout the region across BABVIP’s employee and contingent workforce
  • Advise on a wide range of matters, including grievance, disciplinary, attendance and performance management matters
  • Liaise with external counsel in EMEA and other jurisdictions as required
  • Draft and negotiate employment-related agreements, including severance agreements
  • Develop and maintain internal resources / templates for the regional team, including creation of playbooks
  • Lead complex and time sensitive projects and coordinate internal stakeholders and external advisors
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and review of workplace policies, processes, guidance and templates (subject to local law and practice)
  • Support BABVIP-wide learning initiatives including to deliver training on employment-related topics,  taking account of changes to the law, best practice and BABVIP
  • Work closely and collaboratively with key stakeholders including the People Team (aka HR), Total Rewards, Tax, Finance, Operations, and other parts of the BABVIP Group as required

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • You have 5 years of experience in employment law gained within a respected law firm or in house
  • You have a strong technical background and hands on experience partnering with or advising HR teams and other key stakeholders at international organizations on a broad range of employment matters
  • You have a sound understanding of all aspects of employment law across EMEA and have an ability to apply that knowledge pragmatically in a commercial environment
  • You’re a skilled communicator and you have confidence and experience translating complex legal concepts into practical solutions to guide HR professionals and business people
  • You are risk aware, not risk averse

Experience advising on international employment matters across EMEA more broadly, including Austria, Czech Republic and Germany (although candidates without direct experience across these countries are encouraged to apply so long as you have some international experience)
